The aims of the Workshop were:
- to transfer information and experience from the development in
energy sector in the Czech Republic under the condition of market
economy and preparation of entry to the European Union;
- to bring together managers, engineers and other professionals from
various branches of national industries and related institutions
(state, schools, agencies, etc.) who are related to the energy
sector, so as to exchange scientific/technical and related
information and to discuss possibilities of international
cooperation;
- to enhance the knowledge and skills of industrial managers and
engineers in the area of energy conservation and sustainable
development;
- to contribute to mutual understanding of specialists from various
parts of the world which would lead to creation of a base for future
cooperation and transfer of know-how.
The Workshop enabled the participants to be acquainted with the Czech
energy policies, energy conservation measures and technologies which
contribute to cleaner environment and sustainable development.
Industrial visits and mutual exchange of experience were an integral
part of the subject Workshop programme. Technical visits to the
following companies/plants were organised:
- Turbine plant of ŠKODA Energo, Pilsen - traditional turbine
manufacturer dealing also with turbine modernisation/upgrading
projects;
- Pilsen heating plant;
- Municipality Wastes Incinerator at Liberec;
- Dukovany nuclear power station; Dalešice pumped-storage hydro
power station and Melník power station - parts of the Czech Power
Company CEZ, the greatest producer in the Czech Republic;
- Nuclea Trebíc - supplier of equipment for energy and ecology
sectors;
- CKD Nové Energo Praha - Czech traditional manufacturer of power
equipment.
One day Workshop programme, on 25 April 2001, was devoted to the
visit of the 7th International professional exhibition and conference of
heat supply techniques and technologies "District Heating Days
2001" in Hradec Králové town. The exhibition was organised in
order to make possible meeting of experts and representatives from
production and business companies from the Czech Republic and abroad and
to make experts as well as non-professional public acquainted with
modern heat supply technologies and problems of this area. Parallel to
the exhibition the international conference dealing with heat supply
entitled "Czech district heating sector under the conditions of the
new legislative" took place. The main topics were: new energy
legislation, new technologies and trends in the field of heat supply,
problems of prices and marketing, questions about reliable heat supply,
energy savings and renewable energy sources. Workshop participants had a
possibility to take part in the conference programme and to listen to
the three papers of foreign experts from Finland (a representative of
Finnish District Heating Association) and Brussels (a representative of
Euroheat & Power, unichal, Brussels and a representative of
Euroelectric, Brussels) aimed at the following topics: district heating
position on the liberalised market in Finland, district heating position
in the enlarged European Union and energy markets liberalisation.

The Workshop was attended by 12
participants from the following countries: Belarus (1), Bulgaria
(3), Egypt (3), Latvia (1), Romania (1), Tanzania (1), Ukraine
(1) and Yugoslavia (1). |
